Commissioners to Canvass Votes on Monday
There are a handful of races from Tuesday’s election where results could change due to challenged ballots. The Kanawha County Commission canvass the results Monday morning, and during that time they’ll review 220 challenged ballots and also count the absentee ballots including the military ballots. The races that could change due to the challenged ballots include the 32nd Delegate District – Democrat Luke Lively is in third place with 17 votes, and Melvin Kessler is in fourth place with 13 votes. Also, the County Executive Committee Female District 4-H race is close — Margaret Pomponio is in first place with 202 votes and Tracy Hunt is in second place with 185 votes. For Charleston City Council Democrat Ward 7, Jeffrey Charles Mace is in first place with 129 votes and Rutha Chestnut is right behind with 126 votes. The canvass will be open to the public, and it’s at the Voter’s Registration Office Monday morning at 7am.
