Community Comes Together to Help Family of Elk River Drowning Victim
Friends and family gathered Friday night at the former Herbert Hoover High School parking lot to remember the life of 17-year-old Cody McCallister, who drowned Thursday night while swimming with friends in the Elk River. Other fundraisers were held too, to help the family. Saturday’s Clendenin Paddlefest on the Elk River gave 100 percent of the proceeds to Cory’s family to help with funeral expenses. On Sunday, Momma Payne’s Diner in Clendenin held a spaghetti dinner to benefit the McCallister family.
