Counties working thanks to grants
Workers in Logan, Boone and Mingo counties are working thanks to a federal grant. The one-million dollars was announced Friday and will be used for a project that will employ West Virginians to clear trash and debris from the Guyandotte River and several tributaries. Some of the cleanup took place over the weekend but more work is expected. Governor Tomblin says the job opportunities are badly needed in the region, which has been severely impacted by the downturn in the coal industry.
