Couple charged with prescription fraud

A former physician’s assistant and his girlfriend face multiple charges for prescription fraud. Douglas Smith and Tammy Reeves are charged with 165 counts of prescription fraud and conspiracy. Bluefield police were alerted when Reeves tried to fill two fraudulent prescriptions for a family member who was in the hospital. Smith told authorities he had written around 200 false prescriptions for controlled substances over the past six months.
