Dunbar Plans Meeting to Address Dirty Needle Problem
Dirty needles are a growing problem, and cities and towns are trying to figure out what to do about it. Charleston police say they found more than one-hundred needles in a storage facility behind a business on Virginia Street. Police say someone broke in the storage facility and had been sleeping there. Mayor Danny Jones has also voiced concerns on the needles in public places. Dunbar Police Chief Jess Bailes says the Neighborhood Watch will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. in the basement of City Hall with a special program presented by the state Department of Health and Human Resources about how to properly handle the discovery of a dirty needle if found in a public area or on their personal property.
