Fire Chief resigns over gun ban

The Fire Chief of the Chesapeake Union Township Volunteer Fire Department has resigned over a ban on guns. Fire Chief Frank Meehling II says he doesn’t feel safe out in the field. City council passed a new ban against firefighters carrying guns. The city’s insurance bill would go up 25-hundred-dollars if it allowed firefighters to carry guns, and the council says the city can’t afford the increase.
