Former School Board Member Pete Thaw Has Died
Longtime Kanawha County school board member Pete Thaw has died. Thaw was initially elected as a school board member for a four-year term that began July 1, 1998, and served in other public positions including deputy secretary of state in West Virginia from 1969-1973. Kanawha County Schools Superintendent Ron Duerring released a statement regarding Thaw’s death, calling his departure a true loss. He leaves behind a wife, son, and two grandchildren.
