Governor Opposes School Consolidation

Governor Jim Justice, along with students and parents spoke out against school consolidation Friday at the capitol. The governor said he’d like to avoid consolidation. Two school systems are in the midst of consolidation talk right now – Nicholas and Fayette counties – and ultimately the state board of education decides. The state board already voted unanimously to consolidate the schools in Nicholas County, but protests continue. The Richwood Alumni Association has filed a lawsuit against the county’s board for the consolidation.
