Healthcare.gov Signups Decline
Fewer West Virginians picked plans through the healthcare.gov marketplace this year during the 45-day enrollment period. Just over 27,400 signed up for health coverage, and that’s down twenty percent from last year. The reason for the declne could have to do with higher premiums and people dropping out, a shorter enrollment period, and uncertainty about what the government will do with the Affordable Care Act. Two insurers in West Virginia offer plans on the marketplace, Highmark and CareSource.
