Hearing This Week on Elkview Crossings Bridge

A federal bankruptcy judge has scheduled a hearing to consider a financing plan for the access bridge at the marooned Elkview Crossings shopping center. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Patrick Flatley scheduled an April 6 hearing in Clarksburg on mall owner Tara Retail Group’s intentions to build a new bridge at the Crossings Mall in Elkview. The owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy just prior to a January auction for the mall property. Kanawha County Commission president Kent Carper says he’s confident the matter will be resolved soon. About 500 people have been unable to return to work since June floods washed out the bridge. Many of the workers were laid off.
