Hobet Mine Site To Scrap Plans for Access Road
The Rock Creek Development Park project has been under development since the Tomblin administration, and will see major changes. Senator Ron Stollings of Boone County says the access road will change, and they may have to tweak plans to stay consistent with the environmental data. The $100 million access road would have been an extension of Route 3 at the intersection of Route 3 and Route 119 up to the Rock Creek Development Park, and it won’t be built even though it was funded. They’ll re-build a current access road instead that won’t be as steep and will have fewer curves. The site will also include space for agriculture and military training. The development will be built at the old Hobet surface mine site across twelve acres in Boone and Lincoln counties.
