Hunter Killed Trying to Seek Heat
West Virginia State Police say a hunter was killed after he and a fellow hunter built a fire and the heat broke apart an overhanging boulder, tumbling on the hunter. Senior Trooper G.S. Walter said in a statement that that death occurred on the first day of buck season this week. 25-year-old Donnie Barker III died at the scene in a wooded area in Boone County. A fellow hunter was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. The men had started the fire under the boulder to seek heat.
