Hurricane Skate Park Closes; One Group Wants to Reopen It

The City of Hurricane’s skate park inside Hurricane City Park has been torn down. Mayor Scott Edwards says city officials decided to close the park due to complaints about vulgar graffiti, litter, foul language and marijuana use. Edwards says the park had also fallen into disrepair over the years. A group is already being formed with hopes of garnering enough support to create a better park in a different location. They’ve saved the equipment and hope to work with the city or county to build another park.
