Increased Patrols to be Added to I-64
Three people died recently and several accidents have happened in the I-64 construction zone, and changes are coming to improve safety. Temporary rumble strips, a reduced speed limit and more signage are planned by the West Virginia Department of Transportation in the construction zone on Interstate 64 between Milton and Hurricane. The new measures come from Gov. Jim Justice who ordered the DOT to go “above and beyond” to make the area safer. The speed limit has been dropped to 55 mph for the entire project – 20 miles from milepost 22 to 44. Several law enforcement agencies will be enforcing the speed limit there.
