Kanawha City Body Identified as That of a Homeless Man

The Charleston Police Department says the man’s body found Friday morning in Kanawha City was that of 29-year old John Asbury Jr. A woman called police saying she hadn’t seen Asbury in three days, and the body was found behind the AutoZone on MacCorkle Ave. Police said he was homeless and had been staying near the riverbank behind Lowe’s in Kanawha City. There were no injuries to the body, but officers found several hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia nearby. An autopsy is underway.
