Ken Hechler has passed
West Virginia statesman and author Ken Hechler has died at age 102. Hechler’s wife, Carol Hechler, says her husband died Saturday night at their home in Romney. Ken Hechler’s seven-decade career included stints in the Truman White House, Congress and as West Virginia’s secretary of state. He wrote the nonfiction best-seller “The Bridge at Remagen.” In a statement, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin called Hechler “a true West Virginia treasure.”
