Landmark Whipple Store Changes Ownership

The Whipple Company Store won’t change much under new ownership. The Gazette-Mail reported the new owner plans to keep the 118-year-old building intact for unspecified re-use. Three sealed bids from an online auction were opened on the porch of the historic mercantile on Thursday and the winning bidder was from Pittsburgh, reportedly connected to the coal industry. Plans are to keep the iconic landmark intact.
