Lt. Cooper Credits Hybird Patrol in Successful First Year
New numbers released from the Charleston Police Department show some crime rates in the city have gone down since Chief Steve Cooper took over one year ago. Eyewitness News said one of the most notable accomplishments has been Cooper’s hybrid patrol unit, which is made up of about 10 officers walking or biking to give special attention to needed areas. Since the creation of the hybrid patrol, property crimes are on the decline. The Charleston Police Department is nearly at full staff with 171 officers. Its maximum is 173.
