Man Confesses to Killing Fellow Inmate Nearly 30 Years Ago
A West Virginia prison inmate has written a letter confessing to a cold case homicide. The Exponent Telegram reported that it became aware of an investigation into the killing when the inmate in his 60s wrote it a letter. The newspaper quotes his letter as saying he fatally beat another inmate, John Perry, more than 29 years ago inside a Harrison County Jail cell. The inmate says he questions the investigation because he told detectives he killed Perry but they haven’t done anything. County Sheriff’s Lt. Rob Waybright says he’s investigating the inmate’s admission. The inmate is serving time at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex for second-degree murder and other charges.
