Man Faces Charges for Stealing a Jeep, Fleeing
A man who ran from deputies on Friday is facing charges. Later identified as 33-year old Matthew Hedrick, was suspected of entering several vehicles, and drove off in a Jeep after finding a spare key in the glove box. Deputies used surveillance video to see which direction he might have gone from Smith Creek Road. The next day deputies were called to Ferrell Road in Saint Albans after a witness saw the Jeep. The driver crashed it and ran off on foot. A deputy found some of the suspect’s clothes behind a tree and called for canine help, and then Hedrick was located hiding beneath a bridge. He’s been charged with grand larceny, destruction of property, and transferring or receiving stolen property.
