Man Gets 40 Years in Prison for Machete Murder

A judge in Kanawha County Circuit Court sentenced a man to 40 years in prison yesterday for murder. Brian Thompson previously pleaded guilty to killing 19-year old Brandon Robinson with a machete at a Kanawha City homeless encampment. Thompson’s lawyers said Robinson started trouble which led to a fight. Robinson’s family said he had been throwing snowballs.
