Man Learns His Sentence for Recruiting to Fake School

Daniel Hicks of Charleston pleaded guilty earlier this year in a prep academy scheme, and he’s learned his sentence. Hicks accepted payments for a bogus school to help college-bound athletes compete for basketball and football scholarships and lied to an FBI agent about the so-called West Virginia Prep Academy. Hicks was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months in federal prison.
