Miner Killed in Raleigh County
There’s been another mining death in West Virginia. An employee performing electrical work at a coal mine in Raleigh County died Wednesday, and he’s been identified as 38-year old James A. Whitlock of Smithers. Whitlock was killed as he performed work on a highwall miner at the Pocahontas Coal Company Devils Fork 2 highwall mine, according to a news release from the West Virginia Department of Commerce. Inspectors from the Office of Miners’ Health Safety and Training have started their investigation.
