Mountain State Continues Court Battle
Mountain State University may not exist anymore, but that doesn’t mean its efforts to fight a lawsuit are over. Mountain State is battling the Higher Learning Commission in court over the December 2012 decision to revoke the school’s general accreditation. After that the central Beckley campus was sold, along with the Martinsburg branch. The original final settlement conference was scheduled for the end of this month, but the Charleston Gazette reports the final settlement conference is now set for May 4, 2016, in Bluefield, with a possible trial beginning the following day if the case isn’t settled by then.
