Needle Exchange Program is a Success
The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department Harm Reduction Program is open and busy. Wednesday marked the third week open and the clinic is already seeing success. More than three dozen local drug users have already come to turn in dirty needles and exchange them for clean ones. When individuals come in, a cart is wheeled into their room and they’re given sharps containers to put used needles in. The idea is to bring them back week-after-week so needles aren’t left on the street or put in unsafe containers.
