New Bill Would Create in Elective Bible Class

A bill before state lawmakers now would require schools to offer a Bible class as an elective. Students would be able to use the Bible translation of their choice, and the course would teach about the Bible’s characters and narratives that the bill’s writers say are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture. The Senate education committee has the bill now.
