Nitro Police Station May Move

Nitro wants to move officers into a new police station. The city council met this week to talk about a new agreement with a landowner for the new building which would go up at First Street near the Rio Grande restaurant. Nothing has been finalized yet, but the goal of the move is to get out from underneath the $30,000 rent bill each year and find a permanent home. A board meets tonight to talk about the negotiations.
