DMV wants enforcement of new cell phone law July 1

Yesterday we reminded you that the texting and driving ban that state lawmakers passed in March goes into effect on Friday.Texting or using a hand-held cellphone while driving becomes a secondary traffic offense, meaning it can be enforced only if the driver is stopped for something else. Texting and driving becomes a primary offense on July 1, and the Division of Motor Vehicles is telling law enforcement agencies to hold off enforcing the law until then.
