Trial dates are pending after homeowners surrender homes
Amy Thomas of Cross Lanes filed a lawsuit May 23 against NAJ, LLC, claiming the company and its owner didn't properly notify her that she could reclaim the home she gave up in 2010 because of delinquent taxes. Earlier this year in Jackson County a similar lawsuit popped up alleging the same thing - that the company failed to conduct due diligence in notifying the former owner of her ability to get the property back. NAJ bought the homes at a tax sale. By law, before NAJ could formally claim title to the property, it had to notify Thomas of her right to redeem it. In her suit, Thomas says while NAJ did send her notice earlier this year, it sent it to the wrong address. Trial dates are pending in both cases.
