Suspect sought in Oak Hill police officer shooting
Officers are continuing to investigate yesterday's shooting of an Oak Hill police officer. Sgt. J-L Kirk responded to a called after an alarm went off at Maple Court Apartments, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff's office and Oak Hill police. Kirk's bullet proof vest kept the bullet from penetrating his skin, and he's been examined and released at the hospital. This is the second time in two years an Oak Hill officer has been shot in the line of duty, and saved by a bullet proof vest. Cpl. C.A. Young was shot in March 2010. Police are still looking for Kirk's shooter, described as a black male with a medium to stocky build and loosely braided hair.
