WVIAC restructures, nine schools form new conference

Like many college conferences over the past couple of years, the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is undergoing a shakeup. Nine schools are leaving the conference, including the University of Charleston and West Virginia State University, and they'll form a new conference of their own. The new conference will seek membership in NCAA Division II. The nine schools said in a joint statement, the move is intended to help schools with similar goals and budgets align. Concord University, Fairmont State University, Seton Hill University, Shepherd University, West Liberty University, Glenville State College and West Virginia Wesleyan College round out the schools leaving the conference.
