Pay dates for WV workers may change
State workers in West Virginia are paid twice a month right now - in the middle of the month and at the end. State officials including the governor, treasurer, and auditor, are considering paying state employees every two weeks. To the employee, that would mean 26 paychecks a year instead of 24, and each check would be slightly smaller because each check would cover a shorter amount of time. There would be no change in pay, but there would be a change to the time employees received the money. The state is getting a new computer system and under the new system it would be easier to issue checks every two weeks. Nothing is definite yet, and if the change were made it wouldn't likely go into effect for another year or so.
