Bayer planning layoffs

Layoffs are coming to Bayer CropScience in Institute. Almost eighteen months ago the company announced it would close several manufacturing units that would mean the company would be phasing out production of a chemical known as MIC. As that proces continues, about 250 layoffs will result. The first phase of the layoffs will start in early September and they'll continue through the end of 2012. The company sent notice about the layoffs this week to Kanawha County officials, who have been working to get attract other similar industries to Kanawha County to lessen the blow.
