Settlements Almost Complete After Sissonville Blast

The settlements continue after a blast last year in Sissonville that melted part of Interstate 77 and destroyed several homes. In fact, the Charleston Gazette reports all but one of seven lawsuits filed last month over the massive gas line explosion in Sissonville have been settled. Several who lived nearby sued NiSource and its subsidiary, Columbia Gas Transmission, saying the companies didn't "exercise due care" in maintaining the transmission pipeline that ruptured. They also claim there was a lack of training in emergency response. The settlement amounts have not been released.
