Former POW Jessica Lynch to Speak at Conference

Former prisoner of war Jessica Lynch will be the keynote speaker at a West Virginia State University leadership summit for high school students. The Upward Bound program's annual event is set for tomorrow, and will students and parents the opportunity to attend workshops on things like college prep and finding scholarships, and then Lynch speaks at the noon luncheon. Lynch was 19 when she was captured along with five others after the U.S. Army's 570th Maintenance Company took a wrong turn and came under attack in Iraq in 2003. She was held for nine days before she was rescued. She's a West Viginia native who speaks to groups around the country about perseverance and overcoming obstacles.
