WV Residents to Start Paying Six Percent More on Amazon
Shoppers on amazon.com will have to start paying sales tax in a week. Anyone in West Virginia who buys merchandise from amazon.com will have to pay a 6 percent state sales tax starting October 1st. The company is changing its policies to comply with a new West Virginia law passed in April by the legislature. The new law applies to out-of-state retailers that have "an office, distribution house, sales house, warehouse or other place of business in West Virginia." Amazon has a new distribution center in Huntington.
