Officers Help Save a Life
Two Charleston police officers are being recognized for coming to the aid of a man who had overdosed on drugs. The officers used a drug called naloxone on Wednesday after the man was found unresponsive with pale skin and blue lips by the time they got to him. The Gazette-Mail reports that U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin honored patrolmen Seth Johnson and Nick Castleman on Friday. Emergency medical workers have been using naloxone for decades to treat overdose patients. The Legislature passed a bill this year broadening who can administer the drug.
