One WV Group to Celebrate the Confederate Flag
Despite having been barred from marching down Martinsburg’s streets, West Virginia’s Sons of Confederate Veterans members say they’ll go anyway, to celebrate Southern heritage and the Confederate flag this weekend. Paul Williams is commander of the state’s division of the group, and tells The Journal that his group will be appealing the city council’s decision next week, but members will still assemble in Martinsburg on Saturday to celebrate the 155th anniversary of the first official flag of the Confederate . The group has received permission to fire rifles to salute Southern soldiers.
