Plants’ Law Future is Uncertain
The agency that oversees West Virginia lawyers says Kanawha County’s former prosecutor violated state bar standards. The Charleston Gazette reports that the West Virginia Office of Disciplinary Counsel alleges Mark Plants knowingly violated a domestic violence protective order when he stood outside a pharmacy with his children last year until their mother came out of the store. Plants has admitted standing with his sons, but says it was for their protection. A panel of attorneys will hear evidence before making a recommendation to the state Supreme Court about the future of Plants’ license to practice law. Plants opened a law office in South Charleston after a three-judge panel removed him from office last fall.
