Ravenswood Special Unit Continues Drug Crackdown
A traffic stop led to the arrest of a man and the discovery of 2 and half pounds of suspected heroin. Eyewitness News reports he had an estimated street value of $250,000 hidden in diapers. Jose Garcia of Denver, Colorado, was arrested Friday afternoon on U.S. 33 by the Ravenswood police after a traffic violation, and he’s charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. A K9 found the drugs, and police say since January 2017, the Ravenswood Criminal Interdiction Team has seized 24 pounds of marijuana, 7 pounds of heroin, and numerous amounts of other drugs such as crack, cocaine, THC edibles, mushrooms, methamphetamines and prescription medication. The street value of all drugs seized this year value in excess of a million dollars.
