Renovation Costs Increase for Civic Center Project
City leaders in Charleston this week approved putting more money toward renovations at the Civic Center. The total costs for the upgrades are almost $93.6 million, according to the Gazette-Mail, after the $1.2 million change order was approved. An unexpected $380,000 bill to replace hot and cold water pipes is part of the change order, and another $170,000 became necessary for a new floodplain wall to stay in compliance with regulations. Digital signs and LED lights are also adding to the cost of the renovations.
