Seat Belts on Buses
The discussion of seat belts on school buses is continuing in West Virginia. Yesterday, the transportation director for Kanawha County Schools gave a demonstration of the seat restraints that could someday be installed on West Virginia school buses. The primary opposition to the seat belts comes from what happens if the bus rolls over or catches fire, and how will students get out of the seat belts. Right now, only five states have seat belt requirements, but nearly two-dozen states have laws pending to require school bus seat belts.
