Sell offs of Hospitals

The proposed sell off of the Jackie Withrow and Hopemont long-term hospitals are still a possibility. When legislatures return to their special session today the bill proposing that the Raleigh and Preston county properties be sold off to private investors. Each year the state is losing about five million dollars to operate the two hospitals. The hope is that a private operator can turn a profit and make improvements.
