Service Projects Performed by Scout Jamboree are Far Reaching
More than 220 community service projects will be performed as part of the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. The Register-Herald reported that the Citizens Conservation Corps in partnership with West Virginia’s Arrow to the Summit Community Service identified and developed volunteer projects to be performed in conjunction with Days of Service as part of the jamboree now underway through July 28. Volunteers including the Boy Scouts, AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps and Volunteer WV will complete projects impacting 45 of the state’s 55 counties. Some service projects are oriented around remediation following the June 2016 floods. The partnerships are expected to bring together more than 40,000 volunteers for 500,000 service hours, with an estimated $8 million economic impact for the state.
