State Gas Tax to Edge Down Slightly
The state gas tax is dropping, with means you’ll pay a little less at the pump in 2017. The WV State Tax Department says the state tax on a gallon of fuel will drop from 33.2 cents per gallon to 32.2 cents per gallon, and this makes the third straight year it’s edged down. The fuel tax peaked in 2014 at 35.7 cents per gallon. This decrease won’t amount to much – about twenty-eight bucks per year for most drivers, but it will hit the State Road Fund in the amount of $49 million less.
