State pays nearly a million dollars for unused office space
The West Virginia State Auditor’s office says the state paid nearly 30-thousand-dollars a month, for the last three years, to rent space that was vacant. The Department of Health and Human Resources moved into its new building in downtown Fairmont in 2015, vacating its old office in Middletown Mall. There was a breakdown in communication between DHHR and the Real Estate Division, and the rental agreement was never canceled.
