Students Education
West Virginia education officials say students statewide showed math improvements in most grades in 2017 assessments. Results released Wednesday show half the students in grade 11 were proficient in English language arts. About 150,000 students took the West Virginia General Summative Assessment, while about 2,200 students who have significant cognitive disabilities took the alternate assessment. Most math scores overall improved in grades 4-8 and 11. By law different testing will be used in the coming year.
