Upkeep For Closed Plants May Mean Rate Increase for App Power
Customers of Appalachian Power may be on the hook for the cost of upkeep for power plants that closed. The Public Service Commission wants Appalachian Power to maintain the Kanawha River and Philip Sporn power plants over the next four years. The Charleston Gazette-Mail says that may mean a rate increase. It may cost half a million dollars or more to maintain the closed plants, and the subject is likely to come up in future rate cases.
