Volunteers Pack Hundreds of Boxes for Backpack Buddy Program
Volunteers worked on packing up boxes for the Backpack Buddy program over the weekend. Hundreds of volunteers worked in the parking lot of the Teays Valley Nazarene Church on Saturday, and the work will help put food in the pantries of 800 kids in Putnam County. Volunteers filled 1,800 boxes with 40,000 items like canned soups, fruits and vegetables, and pastas, and with the help of the school system, they’ll send the boxes to students’ homes four times during the summer. Volunteers also packed boxes in Cross Lanes on Sunday, and next weekend, they’ll be in Boone County. Monetary donations are still accepted. For more information on how to donate, visit Backpack Buddy’s website.
