Walker to Become Chief Justice
Beth Walker will become the chief justice of the state Supreme Court Jan. 1. It was about a month ago that Walker was publicly reprimanded and censured by the West Virginia Senate, but the court announced in a news release Monday that Walker will become the chief justice, taking the reins from current Chief Justice Margaret Workman. Walker is the only justice to face an impeachment trial in the Senate and the others have been halted. Two new justices will be elected next week in the midterm elections to replace Menis Ketchum and Robin Davis, who retired.
